After the Crisis: Traumatic Event Crisis Intervention Plans (TECIP)
This course introduces “After the Crisis” management protocols that offer building crisis response teams a proven structure to stabilize the aftermath situation, mobilize resources, accelerate normalization of routine, minimize the adverse impact on student achievement (by restoring adaptive functioning) and facilitate access to more help for the most seriously impacted students and staff. The format of this course will include lecture, demonstrations, small and large group discussion and practice. The goal is to provide participants with a proactive set of protocols and materials (Traumatic Event Crisis Intervention Plan - TECIP) that can be readily implemented following exposure, either directly or indirectly, to a traumatic event, Rapid Response Assessment Guide and Survivor Interview. This course is taught by TECIP Team Members Glen Carlton, Jennifer Haddow and Mike Markowitz.
What Attendees Have Said About This Presentation
Thanks so much for the BEST conference I've been to in years! I knew we needed a crisis plan and unfortunately every time we had an incident I felt totally useless and unprepared!!! I had the vision of what I wanted to see in place and it's wonderful to know we don't have to reinvent the wheel!!! It's already done! Yeah! So with this plan [TECIP] and hopefully some genuine interest we can have it ready for next fall.
Once again, thank you for your presentation and continued help. And you can guarantee that we'll be contacting you again once we get this team in place.
Sofia Gallo, EPHS Counselor
I just wanted to let you know that these past 2 days were excellent. Both Mike and Jennifer exhibit knowledge, expertise and humility in their presentation. The psychs were all very impressed and want to start developing these teams at our schools. This is also the first conference where when we had to work in groups we actually stayed on topic! That says a lot. Thank you!
