Grief Support Groups for Schools

This online course will help school counselors, social workers and private counselors who work with schools establish a successful, ongoing support group to help students who have experienced a devastating loss in their lives. The goal is to provide a safe place for grieving students to meet and share their losses as well as learn strategies for a healthy, productive and resilient life.

Instructor, Linda Duran, has been an educator for her entire her professional life. For 35 years Duran has worked in education, 25 of those years as a counselor. For 22 years Duran ran a grief group in a public high school setting. Additionally, she has trained other counselors in setting up grief groups for all ages in school and church settings. Duran is also a guest columnist for the Dallas Morning News on issues of interest to parents and educators.
Cost of taking this course online is $100. Upon successful completion of assignments tests and evaluation, a certificate of completion can be downloaded.
