New Certification!
Become a Certified TLC Trainer
We are looking for TLC Certified professionals who are invested in promoting TLC programs, interventions and its future by being part of our organization as a Certified Trainer. Those who have a good deal of expertise in trauma/strength-based practice and are excellent presenters but do not have the time, resources or expertise to market themselves to the larger community are excellent candidates for this Certification.
Requirements
- Master’s Level degreed professional (RNs accepted)
- Completion of courses to be taught
- 5 years of practice with documentation from 3 professional sources supporting competency
- Successful completion of 3-day training program
- Computer literate/efficiency in PowerPoint (Mac and PC), Email accessible
- Cell phone availability
Training
3-Day Training plus completion of one TLC online course and comprehensive essay exam (school or clinical). A evaluation will follow consisting of the following:
- Core Competency Evaluation
- Years of Experience
- Publications
- Successful completion of exam
- Peer interview evaluations (30 min Q&A)
- 2 page daily summaries – Lessons Learned

- Process Competency
- Story Telling (Must be part of Train the Trainer Demonstration)

Certificates
Certified Trainers will be provided a certificate of completion identifying successful completion of this three-day training, TLC online course, TLC essay exam, and Level of Certification.
Participants who do not qualify for certification in the Certified Trainer Program will be notified individually. A thorough written summary of the reasons for non-acceptance will be provided. Should they not be accepted for Certification 25% of their fee will be refunded and they will be given Consultant-Supervisor course credit for the 3 days.
Yearly Renewal
No additional fees will be charged. However certified trainers must complete a yearly attestation documenting evidence of licensure, support of and compliance with ethical standards. Certified trainers must also complete one online TLC selected course or attend one day TLC sponsored guest lecture training each year. TLC/Starr reserves the right to discontinue this contract at anytime.
