After the Crisis: TECIP© Online Course
Instructors: Mike Markowitz & Jennifer Haddow
The Traumatic Event Crisis Intervention Plan (TECIP©) is a field-tested, school-based framework designed to meet the emotional and psychological needs of students and staff in the aftermath of a traumatic event. TECIP© provides crisis response teams with the information and resources needed to have a plan in place immediately following a traumatic event.
The unfortunate truth is that too many schools, and districts as a whole, wait for a tragic event to occur before seeing the need of having an organized response team and a well-defined plan in place. If you are notified that a student has been killed in a car accident on Thursday evening, you need to have a plan in place first thing Friday morning.
There are two main systems that make up the TECIP© framework that will be discussed in this course: the management protocol & the intervention strategies. By implementing the management steps and “Safety Net” of intervention strategies that are taught during the TECIP© training, schools increase the chance of meeting positive outcomes by restoring adaptive functioning, identifying those in need of additional support, and returning to a sense of normalcy. There is a choice of a required text for this course. Participants can purchase the class manual, After the Crisis: Traumatic Event Crisis Intervention Plan (TECIP© forms, course information and bonus chapters by Dr. William Steele) or the forms guides, TECIP Abbreviated Implementation Guide (TECIP© forms).
TECIP© is the flagship program of Crisis Oriented Planning and Educational Services, LLC., (COPES Consulting).
